also, I heard that mari was made illegal in like 1930 when someone testified it would make white women fall in love with black men

the 2 main reasons why weed was made unlawful was because it would put many industries such as the paper industry out of business and also because for some reason they thought that females who smoked weed would be more likely to seek relations with black men.....so basically the laws we have today on weed were fueled by greed, and racism.....yeah

I FUCKING HATE WHEN IM WITH MY FRIENDS AND THEY GO AND HIDE IN A CORNER TO GO SMOKE POT LIKE SCUM BAGS. I don't have a problem with bit, but I do have a proem with pot heads. They're always literally fiending for pot and shit. Ruining peoples' plans to smoke pot. It makes them look pathetic. No pot smoker has ever become successful "Uhh rappers have! hurr durr" Oh, are you going to become a rapper? Smoking kills brain cells. I have literally seen people become stupider from smoking pot. It's really fucking stupid

But just like what DJKhaled says; moderation... and don't do it when other people don't want to

tons of succesful people use marijuanna .......Steve Jobs, Morgan Freeman, Michael Phelps,,,fucking Obama,,etc.....

It's pretty unknown whether or not if it's good for you due to the fact of so many people that have underachieved and are unsuccessful people while using it.

Nah, but still theres tons of people who arent ceo's actors, etc, who smoke weed on a daily basis and are still able to accomplish there goals....and btw ur logic is pretty fucked up, and frankly dosent make much sense....what if i was trying to become an olympic swimmer??.....i was just making a point that there are plenty of succesful people who indulge in marijuana use....what if i was planning on becoming a ceo? would ur point then be invalid,,please clarify your ignorant statement

Edit: I just had this argument with a really ignorant person, so I apologize for the rant. Unless you're vehemently opposed to marijuana, skip this post.

So, on a more mature level (as requested), why not have an open, intelligent debate instead of a creating a bastion of confirmation bias?

Either way, I'm going to post as a representative of the pro-marijuana side. I first smoked when I was 16 years old. Felt apathetic about it afterwards, didn't do it again for about a year. As it became more prevalent in my group of friends, I researched it before making a decision, eventually deciding I was okay with it. I'm now 19, and have smoked on a semi-routine basis for two years. First of all, I hold no grudge or judgment against those who don't smoke. That's a personal preference, and that's fine. Those who spread misconceptions or adamantly and ignorantly despise its usage are the ones who need education. Yes, it has medical properties pertaining to anorexia, depression, insomnia, etc. I won't dwell on that because the medical aspects are only used as a front for legalization and are not in dispute. As far as addiction goes, it has the lowest addiction rate of any controlled substance, far less so than alcohol even. Addiction is not, as many people believe, when you increase your consumption to a routine level. Addiction is the point where physical agony is experienced when cleansed of the drug. Very, very few people experience this. Like almost anything in life, moderation is necessary. On vacation, I will gladly smoke as many days as I prefer to. Once I'm back at school, however, I limit myself to the weekends, a rule I have yet to break. Myth number two: marijuana kills brain cells. This is not true, either. This is a myth that was propagated (as most marijuana-related myths were) during the "reefer madness" period in the early 20th century. Have you ever experienced a hangover after drinking? This is your body trying to recover from physical maladjustments. Marijuana does not cause any sort of hangover. The one myth that holds the most weight is the "gateway drug" theory. Marijuana absolutely can encourage the use of other drugs. This, again, is a matter of making practical choices. I have never succumbed to this, and never will. The only true, physical damage conceivable is from usage starting at an early age. This can affect mental development, but this will only occur when starting at ages of 14 and younger, for the most part. Marijuana is a regular part of my life. Since I've started, I've attained the rank of Eagle Scout, been accepted to and currently attending one of the top ten undergraduate business schools in the country, held three formal jobs (none of which resulted in forced termination), and developed a mobile app. I continue to smoke because my life is stressful, and because it is my basic nature to overthink everything. Relaxation is horribly difficult for me otherwise. I believe I deserve to enjoy smoking.

TL;DR: don't be stupid

this was a side of the story i was yet to see
thanks for sharing man, definitely changed my persepective

i've tried a few times. its fun but not something i'd do daily, because i think it would get boring and you'd just get used to the high.
i don't have an opinion on legalization because then people who shouldn't get a hold of it would get a hold of it.
like i know plenty of people who do every other weekend or so and are in sports, good in school, and moderate it. i also know people that just started out smoking every once in a while but are stupid and come to school blazed out of their minds everyday.
i.e. my old friend has moved to acid, coke, pills, shrooms, etc., smokes 3 times a day now, ditches school for it, and his outlook on life is completely fucked up.

the kids that post on facebook "420 IMA ST0NER 4 LYFE!"
and have profile pictures of a pot leaf are annoying as fuck.

anyways, im all for it if you are smart with it.

I don't smoke, not because I think it's wrong, I just have no reason to. If I feel that changes I will, but as long as it hasn't, I won't.

Yeah for sure, but to say that by the time someone is 55 their brain will be fucked is just wrong for most people, he made a pretty big generalisation.

Since the start of last summer I've been smoking almost everyday, sometimes several times ( only in the summer, maybe the weekend. I will be the first to admit that it can change you....if you let it. I still am able to balance my life out but it took me a bit of getting used to but at times it leaves me tired and unmotivated and other times it energizes me to be creative and successful in some aspects of my life such as school or music. my friends who are straight edge aren't that cool with it but I've managed to maintain all my friendships and even make a few good ones. its honestly how you let it affect you, i honestly don't like the pothead stereotype tho, a lot of my friends who i blaze with are actually really intellectual people. I personally think its all about self control, just don't let it control you.

How? I'm not saying people CAN'T be successful while using it. Complex has a list of the top 25 stoner athletes of all time so that's proof. It's just that the stereotype gets out there too as well (that all "potheads" are lazy, unsuccessful, etc.) and there is no doubt that there are some like that. I would love the explanation to as how I am a dumbass.

Messing with Marijuana can be dangerous, it can change you in ways you don't even notice. You have to realize the magick around you that surrounds you, the magick that's within the core of you. Weed dosen't have the answer; magick does. Weed is merely a catylyst.. although it can be good to alter your mind to see what things look like in different situations.

Anyways, if you're spiritually inclined then you'll underestand this; Weed can be used to measure the magick of situations.

I don't understand what you mean when you say weed can be used to measure the magick of situations? I agree with what you said about it acting as a catalyst.

I'm pretty neutral on Marijuana at the moment. That was all I did before, but now I don't get anything out of it. For me it's just not worth the consequences.

Edit: Consequences with the law, that is.

As a college freshman who has been clean his entire life, I feel pretty indifferent about marijuana. I have some friends that smoke weed and I could give a rats ass, just don't do that shit in front of me because I HATE the smell. I don't force my opinion on others though like some annoying ass straight edge faggots I know. In fact, from what it seems, marijuana truly doesn't seem bad for you and if it came down to it, I would probably try smoking weed before cigarettes. The biggest turn off from smoking pot for me is just that it seems like a fucking waste of money... Also, no offense to any of you guys that smoke (and I could be wrong) but I have noticed that most people that smoke have like zero hobbies at all. I enjoy the hobbies I have so I feel no need to throw weed into that mix. Just my 2 cents.

I've been smoking to socialize, as well as cos I like it ya know? and I get real creative and stuff when Im high I sort out all the things troubling me and it's kinda like a reset button when life gets too much. My problem is it makes me tired and unmotivated a lot of the time and to be honest, motivation is what I need more than anything right now.
Also, Ive been reading up on the differences between Indica and Sativa and I think Indica is all I've been really smoking while Sativa is by far better so I plan on slowing down for a while till I get to university and get some better dealer (I live in a really bad area for drugs)

I don't understand what you mean when you say weed can be used to measure the magick of situations? I agree with what you said about it acting as a catalyst.

You're in an altered state of mind where everything is pretty much interesting .. that point of 'interest' is actually magick in itself, you can see how much magick 'interest' something really holds when you get high.

I started smoking weed in high school, like many others. I had a pretty nice job that paid above minimum wage, so naturally I had a steady supply of that shit. It started out being a social thing, strictly for the weekends when the homies were around. Over time, the effects of the same amount wouldn't cut it (just like anything that gets you high), so we needed more because we weren't planning on just calling it quits, haha.

As time passed, we started smoking larger amounts more frequently. We would wake n bake, and go to school toasty as hell. For me, it wasn't much of an issue because I could keep collected under the influence, but for my friends it was a bit risky. No worries, though, cuz no one was ever caught. When summer break started rolling in, we started rolling up (especially me, ha) I ALWAYS had shit. I ALWAYS had my homie to hit up whenever I needed more. It was just always there.

Soon, there came times when I was spending less time with my friends and more time with mary jane, because I always had it, but them not so much. I would go to my job high as fuck, and even had my boss come up to me and tell me that I was doing such a great job that I deserved a raise. That shit was hilarious. I would be around my mom blazed frequently, but she never said anything because I was just always like that around her, so I guess she didn't notice.

Now I'm in college, sober as fuck. It was a personal choice I took, mainly because I need to save money (no job where I am now, bruh). I went from smoking large amounts every day straight to cutting it cold turkey. It was INCREDIBLY easy, though. This was enough to prove that marijuana has little to no addictive influence, at least for me, because I have no withdrawal symptoms. I would definitely say that my mind HAS changed, though. It's weird. I space out a lot more often, I'm a lot less social, and I tend to keep to myself. People here in college ask me constantly if I'm upset about shit just because I'm quiet. I visualize the world differently i.e. I pay attention to weird shit that nobody else would give a rat's ass about, but I'm never high anymore. I'm not so sure I would call that a positive thing. Often times I miss my old mindset, not like as if I were a child, but if I had never started smoking in the first place. Where would my mind be?

So, with all this being said, I've learned that weed affects everyone in a completely different way. Not in the short term, but in the long run. Some people can't quit that easy, and several smokers I know would be quick to say that it IS addictive. I managed to keep good grades and not lose my work ethic, but that's just me.

If anyone wants to get into smoking weed that hasn't already, I have a few recommendations:

1. Try to smoke through water as much as possible. Marijuana smoke isn't linked directly to lung cancer, but you're still burning plant matter and inhaling carcinogens. Trust me, bongs and bubblers are your friend when it comes to smoking and your lungs will thank you. An even better choice would be a vaporizer. No smoke and it's one of the best highs ever. I'm not saying to avoid joints and blunts at all costs, but keep them to a minimum. And besides, what's better than a nice bong rip?

2. Don't do stupid ass shit. It's illegal in most parts of the world, so avoid public property at all costs (that abandoned parking lot might not be as abandoned as you think. I got busted once with my friends and taking drug ed for seven weeks was not fun and a waste of time. The ideal place is indoors, in a safe place, windows closed if possible. Even if you're in your backyard at home, if cops roll by and smell that shit they might check if anyone's back there and if they find you with anything in your possession, you will be fucked. Most state laws consider any area outside of the physical house to be searchable by police without a warrant. That's how house parties get busted most of the time!

3. Weed should revolve around your life, but your life shouldn't revolve around weed. In my opinion, it should be used as a tool. To help you focus, to help you relax, or whatever you choose to use it for. It's not so good when you get high simply to get high and you're spending valuable food money to get a couple more grams.

4. Stay the fuck away from cigarettes. That's shit's nasty as fuck. I tried them once and haven't touched them since.

Congratulations if you read this far, I'm done.

I think that it isn't addictive, ive smoked it several times. I think that it depends on how you look at life, that will judge how you use it.
Nothing is wrong with it, I prefer it to drinking, which ill never do most likely. Very good for depression but there are people like my friend who I hate being around when their high just because they do NOTHING at all. I prefer stoner friends who do goofy funny shit. Not a goddamn couch potato. I am someone who likes to go out and do things when i have a motive and objective. Like when I was wanting to go thrifting and he did too, but he wanted to get high first and we smoked mary with a codeine pill sprinkled in the blunt. He had money on a check so I left him and jumped on the bus, then train to go thrifting by myself, and I was fine besides my increased hunger and legs which felt alittle funny. I think they can legalize it and tax it just like they tax other things. People WILLL buy. Oh and I haven't been smoking it everyday, not because I can't but because I don't want to and because im not addicted, but mainly because I want to be able to get a job. So maybe after I do, I will again, but I have priorities before weed because I would not let a substance control my life.
