I am a 5"10 150lb male btw

@  chrisb : (01:36 AM)

I'm not sure about the Golf hoodie sizing, but for Gildan hoodies I am a size large, however I prefer an XL-XXXL for comfort

@  chrisb : (01:35 AM)

Hmm, I would say buy the brown one in regular small and just have it be a little big. Possibly room to grow into as well?

@  Guest : (05:51 AM)

I want to buy a Golf Hoodie there is a green or brown one. I want the brown one but the xs is sold out. In the green size there is xs. In the brown one there is small and i am a xs do you think I should just buy the green one or buy the brown one or just wait?

get the new boxset

I will eventually. I have a lot of cd's and lp's I need to get. the guy at the record store said he'd order a bunch of shit by The National for me. So I need to get their discog firstly. IDK whether to go all vinyl,or buy cd's. It's a tough decision. I couldn't decide with ITAOTS, so i just said fuck it and bought both for 40. I bought 2 cd's as well. Bloom by Beach House, and Gorilla Manor by Local Natives.

It took awhile to grow on me after hearing ITAOTS but it has some really solid tracks on it. I recommend giving a listen to the Live At Jittery Joes LP -- has some awesome solo tracks by Mangum.

I went to go see him on the 10th. This is my long-ass report of the show.

We got there about 30 minutes before the doors opened, and there was a pretty decent crowd waiting. The doors opened at 7, and I was please to find that there's pretty much no bad seat in the house. The Carnegie Music Hall is beautiful and the seating is very well designed.

At 8 sharp the opening act Briars of North America came on. They were okay, but not really to my taste; just straight bluegrass/roots music. They played for about 45 minutes, and then there was about a 10-15 minute break. The next act, Tall Firs, played for 45 minutes; I liked them better, but they seemed a little pissy. This was followed by another 10-15 minute break.

A little before 10:00, Jeff came on. The theater erupted in applause before falling into silence when he ripped straight into Two-Headed Boy Pt. 1 (recording here.) This is the part of the concert where my stomach sort of dropped - everybody who went with me agreed that during this song, he had this ferocious attitude of "Here, this is what you people wanted and couldn't stop bothering me about. Enjoy it, fuckers."

Fortunately, after that song, he talked to the audience a little and told us we could sing along if we wanted before going straight into playing all 3 parts of King of Carrot Flowers back to back. The whole theater screamed "I love you Jesus Christ" during that one. He encouraged the singing along throughout the concert, saying he wanted to hear our voices, and he spoke a little bit about how he thinks music is a collective thing that you share and make with each other.

You can see the whole setlist here if you're curious. Checking the setlists from the other 2013 concerts so far, it looks to be largely the same from night to night. Highlights: 1. A couple dozen people running to the stage to dance during Holland, 1945, and Jeff played Song Against Sex so they could keep dancing. 2. A guy from the opening band came out and played Scott Spillane's parts on the french horn during Oh Comely. 3. The whole theater shaking during the crowd asking for an encore, and singing along with the french horn during In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (recording of that here, you can really hear the crowd singing).

There's a very visceral difference between hearing a 20-something Jeff sadly singing alone and hearing a 42-year-old Jeff singing with a thousand people who are all happy and excited to be there. It's clear that the resurgence of his fanbase really did transform the music for him - they're not just one guy's sad songs any more.
