Young Sinatra:Welcome to Forever by Logic

 

 

After receiving hype from his signing to Def Jam or being on the XXL Freshman 2013 list, Logic released his fourth mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever. Is Logic or the mixtape worth the hype? Let's find out.

 

I was pleasantly surprised by this tape. I only heard about Logic through r/hiphopheads and a lot of people there liked his new tape, so I decided to check out the hype... and it was worth it. This is a really solid mixtape and I hope for good things in this guy's future because he really deserves it. He had a lot of shit happen in his life as a kid/teen and to see him rise up and become a success, I'm really glad for the guy. Anyways, back to the tape itself. For the most part, Logic has a really good beat selection, great flow, and decent lyrics (nothing too special, but not annoying *cough Macklemore cough*). There lies some problems though, mostly just kind of small things, but need to be addressed. Corniness is one problem. And as an expert of being a corny cac, you definitely have those moments of corn on the tape, but that's something that happens with a lot of white rappers (*cough Lil Dicky cough*). Also, the tape suffers from going on longer than it should. He could cut a couple of tracks or maybe make the tape feel like one long song/story (see good kid m.A.A.d city). Other than that, really solid tape and can't wait to see what Logic does in the future. I'm gonna give this album an 8/10.

 

 

THINGS I LIKED: Nice beat selection, good use of features, good flow, decent lyrics, oh, and the "Randolph Returns" skit was kinda funny.

 

THINGS I HATED: Some corny lyrics and the album being a little too long.

 

STAND OUT SONGS: Welcome to Forever, Roll Call, Break it Down, Feel Good, Walk On By, Ballin, Common Logic Midnight Marauder, Just A Man

 

OVERALL SCORE: 8/10

I just played the entire Young Sinatra during my gym sesh. Omg it is absolute ILL. Best mixtape of the year thus far? I think so!!

At first I was 'who the fuck is logic? And what kind of name is that?!' He's successfully shut me up and proved me wrong. I rate this an 8/10

Honestly, I heard 5 tracks and put it in the recycle bin. To me Logic is just dumb and not very different. He can flow, I'll give him that, but he always preaches about the same 3 things in all his songs. I don't fuck with him whatsoever. The annoying "I'm not white" factor doesn't help at all.
